At round eight of Backpack Battles, you’ll choose between one of five subclasses for the Berserker. Each subclass comes with a unique item purchased from the shop, providing buffs and other effects for your character. The Berserker subclasses are as follows:

Best Berserker subclass in Backpack Battles

Due to the unpredictable nature of the shop, the best Berserker subclass is dependent upon your character’s build when you get to round eight. For instance, if you’ve crafted a lot of items, the Blacksmith will net you the most benefit. If you’ve found a lot of Gemstones, on the other hand, then the Shaman will help you capitalize on them with Luck buffs. I recommend having a subclass in mind when you first start a run and choosing your items accordingly. Overall, however, Chieftain is the strongest Berserker subclass in Backpack Battles. Nature items—such as Garlic—are both common and cheap to buy, making it easy to prepare for Chieftain well in advance. Furthermore, the damage reduction and extra healing during Battle Rage will shore up your defenses and allow you to deal increased damage for much longer.
