All Lightning Charges Items In Bg3
All Baldur’s Gate 3 Lightning Charges armor, items, and weapons
There are a whole lot of items in BG3 that can use, generate, or make Lightning Charges stronger. Here is a complete list of everything that can be useful in a Lightning Charge build. This list does not include the two Lightning Charge items removed from the game after Early Access: A Sparking Promise and Lightning Aura Amulet.
How do Lightning Charges work?
Lightning Charges can be gained or used by items in battle under specific circumstances. As listed above, some work by give you Lightning Charges for dealing damage with a certain spell or weapon or other action. When you have one or more Lightning Charges, you will deal an additional 1 point of Lightning Damage when you hit something, and you will get a +1 bonus to attack rolls. You lose one Lightning Charge each turn, but if you manage to build up to five or more of them, you will deal an additional 1d8 Lightning damage on your next successful attack.
Baldur’s Gate 3 best build for Lightning Charges
I don’t know if you noticed, but every single one of those items listed above can be found in Act 1. This means you can have an absolutely busted early game Lightning Charges build that is part Wizard and part Warlock. Most characters will be levels 5 or 6 at the end of Act 1, but let’s build out the whole way to 12 to see what this looks like.
Four levels of Warlock: This will give you the Cantrip Eldritch Blast, which is the most powerful Cantrip in all of BG3. Then, at the second level, you can take both Agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast to make your Eldritch Blast way stronger. This will also get you a feat. Four levels of Fighter: Just two levels of Fighter will give you Action Surge to gain more actions per turn. Choose Defence as your type, then take the fourth level of Fighter for the feat. Taking Fighter also gives you access to Medium Armor, which covers several of the most coveted Lightning Charges items above. Four levels of Rogue: On the third level of Rogue, you get to choose your sub-class; choosing Thief will give you Fast Hands which give you an additional Bonus Action. You will also get Cunning Action: Dash Bonus Action at level 2 since Dash helps you to get more Lightning Charges. The fourth level of Rogue will get you a Feat. Feats: I like Spell Sniper to not only give you another cantrip, but also to lower the roll needed to get a Critical Hit by one. Lucky is also always a great choice, and Elemental Adapt: Lightning can be beneficial if you are looking for a themed feat. Wear the Speedy Lightfeet, the Spellsparkler, The Jolty Vest, The Blast Pendant, Sparkswall if you need it, and the Lifebringer. For gloves, I would consider Gloves of Belligerent Skies over the Sparkle Hands. Sparkle Hands is great in Act 3 when you’re fighting metal enemies, but not super useful otherwise for this build. The Gloves of Belligerent Skies give Thunderous Conversion; whenever you deal Lightning, Thunder, or Radiant damage, inflict two turns of Reverberation on all things you’ve hit. Gloves of Belligerent Skies can be found in the Creche in the Mountain pass. It’s locked up in a chest in the Inquisitor’s Chamber. For a second ring, I use Ring of Arcane Synergy. This ring is looted from the Gish Far’Aag in the Creche in the Mountain Pass.
