All Starters In Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince How To Get Which One To Pick

Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince Starters Guide

There are four starter monsters in The Dark Prince: Fright Bulb, Mud Mannequin, Cruelcumber, and Platypunk. The one that you get is determined by a series of questions Monty asks of you. All monsters are scoutable or synthesizable in the future, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on any of them.

Fright Bulb

Fright Bulb is a healer/spellcaster monster with an overall balanced build. It’s cute though, which was why it was my initial choice…

Mud Mannequin

Mud Mannequin is a buffer/debuffer type. These types of monsters are heavily recommended early game due to how OP defense buffs and debuffs are in the arena. It’s also a key ingredient for many special synthesis monsters, including Mudraker.

Would you say you prefer more lovable monsters to more rugged types? Yes. And do you like more compact monsters? Yes.

Cruelcumber

Need a pure spellcaster from the get-go? Cruelcumber is what you want. Eventually, Cruelcumber can grow to be an ultra-fast spellcaster—or at least share amazing Magic/SPD talents with its children when used for a synthesis.

Platypunk

Platypunk doubles as a physical attack and debuffer. I personally like it with Sandstorm (skill) in early arena, which decreases the enemy’s accuracy for a LOT of turns.

Best Starter Monster in The Dark Prince

Your starter monster doesn’t matter in terms of stats. There are better monsters out in the field, and you’ll probably be synthesizing your favorite ones in a couple of hours. In fact, all four of these monsters can be synthesized or scouted eventually.

However, if you’re looking to complete your Monsterpedia faster, Platypunk and Mud Mannequin are impossible to synthesize early on, so you can grab one of those.
