Roblox Introduces Discord Like Feature Party Makes It Easier To Play With Friends
The Party feature will allow you to create a group with your friends, where you can text chat, communicate via voice, and even join your favorite experiences together with just a single tap. It functions similarly to the popular VoIP platform, Discord. However, it’s important to note that only users aged 9 and above will be able to join a party. Additionally, Roblox has confirmed that the feature will initially launch with text chat, followed by voice communication. Fortunately, the best part is that Party will be fully rolled out by the end of this year, meaning in less than three months, you will be able to fully utilize it. But it doesn’t stop there. Similar to Discord, the Party feature will provide an overlay while you’re playing games which allows you to see who is speaking in the channel, along with a few convenient shortcuts to quickly perform certain actions. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, I expect that the Party feature will first be released on Android and iOS platforms, as the RDC event showcased a mobile demonstration. This new feature also offers something special for Roblox developers, as they will have the ability to teleport Party members to the same starting point, drop them into a private lobby, or pre-pair them into a team. This will be made possible through an API, which is expected to launch next year. If that’s not enough, you’ll be excited to know that Roblox is also launching a new Community platform which is essentially a rebranded version of Roblox Groups. This will be initially rolled out for experiences that have large communities like Blox Fruits.
